THORSTEN'S BIO
When Thorsten first began playing guitar at 11 years old, unbeknown to him, he had actually picked it up in a rather unorthodox way by playing it left handed and with the strings upside down. This almost unique style of playing baffled many onlookers but not our young protagonist who stormed out of the traps and began picking up chops from early idols such as BRIAN MAY , EDDIE VAN HALEN , CARLOS SANTANA and ANDY SUMMERS .
His keen ear for music and genuine talent meant that within two years this self taught player was taking the stage at the ripe old age of 13 in his first live band. At one time our newly blooded Guitar Hero was applying his trade in four different bands with styles ranging from Jazz to Pop to Rock and by the time he hit 15 years old he was teaching guitar.
Thorsten's first major break through came in 1995 with his first worldwide released album as guitar player with German Metallers ATTACK with the album “The Secret Place” on JVC/Victor.
Since then he has acquired a vast amount of studio and live experience with countless appearances with national and international artists, and secured an endorsement deal with DEAN GUITARS where he played at clinics in Europe and USA including the World famous NAMM show in Los Angeles . This, along with a demo tape, brought Thorsten to the attention of MIKE VARNEY , owner of SHRAPNEL RECORDS , and champion of shred guitar and also saw him participate in sessions with MARTY FRIEDMAN andPAUL GILBERT .
In 2001 Thorsten joined German Hard Rockers DEMON DRIVE and released two albums - "Rock´n Roll Star" in 2001 and "Four Play" in 2003.
2005 saw Thorsten form his own solo band, under the moniker CODE OF PERFECTION , and signing to German label LIMB MUSIC
PRODUCTIONS . The debut album “Last Exit For The Lost” was produced by DOMAIN and CASANOVA bassist JOCHEN MAYER and was released in early 2006. The album featured a wealth of guest talent including the DOMAIN ,EVIDENCE ONE and MIDNITE CLUB vocalist CARSTEN LIZARD SCHULZ, WILD AXIS , SHORTINO , PRIMAL FEAR , SILENT FORCE , THE SYGNET and SINNER guitarist ALEX BEYRODT , ROUGH SILK , and AXEL RUDI PELL keyboard player FERDY DOERNBERG and further shredding from ex- NITRO guitarist MICHAEL ANGELO BATIO. The album received fantastic reviews with the press heralding it a “ great return to the heydays of Instrumental Metal ” and Thorsten as “ one of the best guitarists of our days ”.
In January 2006 Thorsten joined international supergroup EDEN'S CURSE featuring seasoned musicians from Europe and America.
The sensational debut album was produced by PINK CREAM 69, UNISONIC bassist and celebrated producer DENNIS WARD. The group signed to German label AFM RECORDS in June 2007 with late August of the same year being set as the release date. The band also inked deals with METAL MAYHEM MUSIC for the North American territory, DYNAMO RECORDS for the Latin America territory and SPIRITUAL BEAST/UNIVERSAL for the Japanese territory.
EDEN´S CURSE have toured with DREAM THEATER, STRATOVARIOUS, current OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist GUS G's band FIREWIND and ALESTORM, plus appearanced at major rock festivals such as BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR (UK), HARD ROCK HELL (UK), FIREFEST (UK), PPM FEST (BE), ROAD TO ROCK (BE), DOKK´EM OPEN AIR (NL), MELODIC ROCK FEST (US) and VÄSBY ROCK FESTIVAL (SWE).
Apart from EDEN`CURSE Thorsten has always been busy live and in the studio working with international artists.
In 2009 he had the honour to play all lead guitars for singer legend JOE LYNN TURNER (DEEP PURPLE, RAINBOW, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN)
on his SUNSTORM album "House Of Dreams" performing on songs written by such greats as DESMOND CHILD (BON JOVI, KISS, CHER, AEROSMITH), RUSS BALLARD (SANTANA, ABBA, KISS) or JIM PETERIK (SURVIVOR, CHEAP TRICK, SAMMY HAGAR).
In 2012 Thorsten joined legendary US hardrock band HARDLINE fronted by singer JOHNNY GIOELI (AXEL RUDI PELL, CRUSH 40) to record all guitars for their comeback album "Danger Zone". Produced by former EDEN´S CURSE band mate ALESSANDRO DEL VECCHIO the album also featured ANNA PORTALUPI on bass (TARJA TURUNEN, LIONSVILLE) and FRANCESCO JOVINO on drums (U.D.O., PRIMAL FEAR).
In 2013 Thorsten recorded all lead guitars for singer and longterm friend DANNY VERAS solo debut album "Never Give Up". Hailing from Miami Beach/Florida the album was produced by legendary producer/songwriter PAUL SABU (ALICE COOPER, PRINCE, SHANIA TWAIN).
Thorsten also had countless guest appearences on album productions by artists such as PAUL SABU ("Strange Messiah" in 2008), WOLFPAKK feat. MICHAEL VOSS ("Wolfpakk" in 2011) or CARSTEN LIZARD SCHULZ ("The Day The Earth Stopped Turning" in 2015) to name but a few.
Thorsten won the "Guitarist Of The Year" award by world prestigious website MELODICROCK.COM both in 2007 and 2013.
After a successful UK headline tour with EDEN´S CURSE in 2014 and touring Germany and Holland as support for FREEDOM CALL in 2015, EDEN´S CURSE released their 5th studio album CARDINAL in October 2016 followed by another successful UK headline tour in November 2016 and yet their second and longest tour supporting FREEDOM CALL in Germany and Switzerland in February 2017.
CARDINAL for the first time also saw Thorsten as co-producer for the album alongside fellow band mate Paul Logue and longtime producer Dennis Ward.
In August 2017 EDEN´S CURSE released REVISITED, a re-recording of their debut album to celebrate it´s 10 year anniversary. REVISITED also features EDEN´S CURSE first ever live DVD LIVE IN GLASGOW.
More festival shows in Germany and Sweden followed in 2017 and 2018 before EDEN´S CURSE embarked on their yet biggest tour supporting legendary guitarist MICHAEL SCHENKER on his Schenker Fest UK tour in November 2018.
Playing more festivals by end of 2018 and early 2019 in Scotland and England EDEN´S CURSE yet hit the road again in the UK in April 2019 for a headline tour supporting their new release TESTAMENT - THE BEST OF EDEN´S CURSE.
